TEHRAN – President Mahmud Ahmadinejad has received the credentials of new foreign ambassadors to Iran.

Ambassadors from Spain, Brazil, Turkey, Nigeria, Senegal and Somalia in separate meetings submitted their credentials to the president.
Great potential to expand Iran-Spain relations
In his meeting with new Spanish ambassador, the president said Iran accords great respect to the Spanish nation and government.
Expressing satisfaction over the expanding economic ties between Iran and Spain, Ahmadinejad added, “There is no obstacle to expanding the (mutual) ties.”
Spanish ambassador, for his part, said he will try to improve the diplomatic and economic ties during his tenure in Tehran.
Iran, Brazil are rich nations
“Iran and brazil are two powerful and rich states,” Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with new Brazilian ambassador to Iran Antonio Luis Espinola Salgado.
He said expansion of ties with Brazil is of high importance for Iran.
“Iran and Brazil can enjoy extensive cooperation in commercial, economic and technological fields,” Ahmadinejad stated.
Salgado pointed out that Iran is a civilized state and a major power in the region.
He also submitted the shirt number 10 of Flamingo Football Club, a Brazilian football team, to President Ahmadinejad.
Iran determined to expand ties with Turkey
Calling the two nations as ‘brothers and friends’ the president said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to promote cooperation with Turkey.”
The New Turkish Ambassador, Salim Kara Osman Uglu, expressed satisfaction over the strong ties between Tehran and Ankara.
Nigeria backs Iran’s nuclear activities
The new Nigerian ambassador to Iran said his country supports Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.
“Nigeria supports the Islamic republic of Iran’s efforts to access peaceful nuclear energy,” he told Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad, for his part, called Nigeria a civilized nation and said Iran welcomes mutual cooperation with Abuja in energy, technological, agricultural and water fields.
Cooperation with Senegal
“Expanded ties with Senegal are of high importance for us,” Ahmadinejad said with the new Senegalese Ambassador to Iran.
In the meeting, the ambassador also called for closer relations with Iran.
Iran ready to help improve conditions in Somalia
In meeting with new Somali ambassador to Iran Abdul Rahman Abdul Hossein, Ahmadinejad said Iran is ready to help improve the conditions in Somalia.
“There is no limitation to boost cooperation with Somalia,” the president said.
Abdul Hossein delivered a report on the present state of affairs in his country and called for closer ties with Iran.
